Meet the team

Ted Mackney spent many years working in a business environment before deciding to train as an actor in Oxford. His comprehensive course included in depth training in the background and facilitation of forum theatre. He has worked extensively in theatre and television, and has been involved in producing professional forum theatre for several years. He has great skill and presence as a facilitator, enjoying this aspect of his work most. His business background gives him a deep understanding of the kind of issues and problems facing companies.

Having worked in forum for 10 years, Ted is passionate about it and the powerful effect it can have on individuals and companies. He is committed to helping people find the best way for themselves and their colleagues to work together, creating a happy and productive working environment, and to instigating cultural and behavioural change within organisations that is measurable and sustainable.

Ted enjoys making music, and is an accomplished guitar player. He plays in a local band, Cider House Rules, in his spare time.

Megan Long trained as an actor more years ago than she cares to remember, and then worked mostly in television and radio whilst bringing up three children. She has also worked as a role play actor for various businesses, including Barclays Bank, West Mercia Police and Britannic Assurance.

She has run her own businesses, including a dance academy and a fitness club, and was heavily involved in local politics for ten years.

She first worked in forum theatre in 2003, and very much enjoys the challenges it  produces, both for the actor/facilitator, and for the participants. She has been amazed at the effect that forum has on working environments and individuals, and believes strongly that it is one of the most effective ways of delivering training. She has also trained as a facilitator, and now facilitates on a regular basis.

Megan loves many different types of crafts, including making sterling silver wire jewellery, which is in danger of taking over her leisure time!

Whilst Ted and Megan are the backbone of Leaping Deer, we have associate actors and facilitators who are engaged depending on the training requirements of the client.  All are carefully chosen for their acting skills and also for their experience in a forum environment, as it is a very specialised discipline and requires specific skills.

We are pleased to welcome Monica Young to the team, who has taken over our marketing and development department. Monica trained as an actor, but decided to go into business and has used her excellent communication skills for many years in marketing and PR for businesses. She has a good understanding of our unique training environment, and we look forward to working with her.
